Parent Communication

Key Person

Every child within our nursery settings is assigned a key person who focuses specifically on their day and their progress. The key person is an important role model for the children, and they are always ready to inform families with updates at the end of the day and through the Parent App.

Our face-to-face conversations with parents are invaluable. The key person can discuss observations identified through play, the next steps in development, and any areas identified for extra support. These conversations are not just informative, but also interactive, with children often eagerly participating to share what they have been doing.

Famly App

The Famly App provides many benefits to parents, such as offering real-time updates on their child’s activities, milestones and progress, as well as allowing for easy communication with staff. This promotes transparency and helps parents stay informed about their child’s experience at nursery. You can expect to received updates via the App including important information about what your child has eaten and their sleep pattern.

Our teams regularly update the app to provide parents with information throughout the day.

Consumables & Food

All government funding is stretched over 52 weeks. This means that 30 hours of funding equates to 22 hours per week, and 15 hours of funding equates to 11 hours per week. (Please see the Nursery Fees Calculator page for further details specific to your nursery location.)

We do charge for food and consumables, as these are not covered by the government‑funded hours. These charges allow us to maintain the high standards of provision that families at Little Raccoons Day Nursery expect.

Please note that these charges are voluntary. If you choose to provide your own food, please refer to our Food Policy on the documents page.
